With the Support of Chinese Baijiu, the 2019 Inaugural Singapore “Zeng Shisheng Cup” Racial Harmony Day Graphic Xiangqi Tournament Concludes Successfully!
In celebration of Racial Harmony Day, the 2019 Inaugural Singapore “Zeng Shisheng Cup” Racial Harmony Day Graphic Xiangqi Individual Open Tournament was grandly held on July 21 at the Bishan Community Club Hall. Supported by Mr Zeng Shisheng, Former Senior Minister of State for Education of Singapore, the event was jointly organised by the Singapore Xiangqi Federation and Bishan Community Club, with sponsorship from Singapore China Baijiu Pte Ltd. The tournament brought together hundreds of xiangqi enthusiasts in Lion City for a spectacular competition where xiangqi and baijiu culture beautifully converged.

Before the competition, Mr Zeng Shisheng, Former Senior Minister of State for Education; Mr Lin Guan Hao, President of the Singapore Xiangqi Federation; and Mr Yun Weilong, President of the Singapore China Baijiu Association and Chairman of Singapore China Baijiu Pte Ltd, shared a warm exchange

The tournament featured five categories: Open Group, U18 Group, U12 Group, Women’s Group, and Senior Group. Participants learned from one another and engaged in a contest of wisdom and perseverance. Focused gazes, disciplined moves, and精彩棋局 reflected the high competitive standard displayed by the players.

After intense rounds of play, champions were crowned in all five categories:
Open Group: Alvin Woo (吴宗翰)
Senior Group: Lum Yew Sum (林耀森)
U18 Group: Lim Jun An (林骏安)
U12 Group: David Chik (植彦杰)
Women’s Group: Fiona Tan (陈茗芳)
Upholding the spirit of “making friends through chess and honing skills through play,” participants experienced the joy of strategy and competition on the chessboard.





The successful hosting of this tournament once again saw Chinese baijiu providing tangible support. It not only facilitated a meaningful journey of xiangqi cultural exchange, but also integrated Singapore’s local festive culture, using baijiu as a bridge to create a platform for friendship through chess. The event attracted and inspired more local friends to inherit and promote xiangqi culture, while gaining a deeper understanding of Chinese baijiu culture.
