We’re in for a treat! Originating from Hokkaido, Baristart Café chose Singapore as its first overseas expansion destination. Located amidst the hustle and bustle of Tanjong Pagar, you can find this newly arrived café along Tras Street. From a small café to becoming a well-known landmark in Hokkaido today, its story begins with the milk they use.

You must be wondering — what’s so special about the milk used in their café? Let me tell you. This is no ordinary fresh milk; it’s known as the “wagyu of milk”, called Biei Jersey Milk. The milk comes from farm-raised Jersey cows, a rare breed in Japan (making up less than 1% of cows in Hokkaido). Naturally, the milk they produce is exceptionally precious.

Not only that, the café’s owner Yuuki Takechi is currently based in Singapore and only returns to Japan after April. He is also a two-time champion of the UCC Hokkaido Latte Art Competition. Coffee brewed personally by him is undoubtedly top-notch. The café’s signature latte ($6.70) is distinctly different from regular lattes. Thanks to the use of Biei Jersey Milk, the latte is especially rich, sweet yet not cloying, leaving a lingering aftertaste with every sip.

And of course, dessert is a must~ The extremely adorable Shiro Kuma shaved ice ($9.80) is drizzled with Biei Jersey Milk and paired with refreshing vanilla ice cream — truly a perfect combination! Hidden inside are various fruits including mango, mandarin orange, white peach, and strawberry. You can also choose your preferred house-made sauce, with flavours such as coffee, Biei Jersey milk, strawberry, mango, and green tea.
