2019 2nd China Baijiu Cocktail Competition Finale

On July 28, the “Purely Enjoying Lion City” 2019 2nd China Baijiu Cocktail Competition Finals kicked off in full swing at Orchard Central @ Sky Bar. We invited Mr Yun Weilong, Founder of Singapore China Baijiu Pte Ltd, Mr Steven Cheng, Vice Chairman of the Singapore Cocktail Association, and Mr Isz, Runner-up of the 2018 “Purely Enjoying Lion City” Cocktail Finals, to serve as judges. Four Singaporean contestants, together with their cheering supporters, brought the atmosphere at the competition venue to its peak!

The four contestants were Haran (Photos 1 & 2), Kumar (Photos 3 & 4), Khai (Photos 5 & 6), and Dee (Photos 7 & 8). Each contestant infused their personal life stories into their cocktail creations. Haran incorporated Indian spices into his cocktail; the youngest contestant, Kumar, crafted a vibrant and boldly flavoured modern cocktail. Khai, a former barista, used cold brew coffee as an ingredient, while Dee added a childhood memory—douhua (soybean pudding)—into his Wuliangye cocktail. The contestants’ innovative ideas and skilled techniques amazed the judges!

As the competition progressed, the sky gradually transformed from blue to nightfall. Cheers from the audience continued non-stop, all to give the contestants their fullest support! The three judges carefully tasted each cocktail. Looking at the 12 meticulously crafted creative baijiu cocktails made with Moutai, Wuliangye, and Guojiao 1573, we witnessed the fusion of diverse cultures and the evolution of the times. Chinese baijiu holds infinite possibilities!
