On May 30, Mr Yun Weilong, Chairman of the Singapore China Baijiu Association, hosted a dinner in honour of three athletes who returned triumphantly from the 31st Southeast Asian Games: Ng Zong Han (won 1 gold and 1 bronze), Liu Yi Hao (won 1 silver and 1 bronze), and Ng Lan Xiang (won 1 silver and 1 bronze).
Permanent Honorary President Sun Jingting, Vice Presidents Lin Guan Hao and Zhao Jinshan, Secretary-General Ou Mushun, and athlete Chen Mingfang were also invited to attend. (President Li Xisen and Chief Referee Chen Maoran were unable to attend due to other commitments.)
Chairman Yun congratulated the Xiangqi team on their outstanding achievements at the SEA Games, bringing honour to the nation. It is a pride for Singaporeans and a source of pride for the xiangqi community. Lin Guan Hao noted that it was truly significant for xiangqi to be included in the SEA Games for the first time, and expressed gratitude to the Vietnam Xiangqi Association and the Vietnam Olympic Committee for their strong support. With the Asian Xiangqi Federation appointing a working group to coordinate the event, the competition was able to conclude successfully.
Sun Jingting shared that seeing Singapore’s national flag raised during the award ceremony via video was a historic moment that shone brightly for the development and dreams of xiangqi. Ou Mushun added that xiangqi would certainly be included in the next SEA Games to be held in Cambodia, and expressed hope that the players would continue to work hard and strive for even better results.
Everyone immersed themselves in the joy of the SEA Games victories and spent a wonderful evening together. ……
