Spectacular Highlights! The 2018 Lion City National Liquor Moutai Cup – 1st Singing Competition Concludes Successfully
The 2018 Lion City National Liquor Moutai Cup – 1st Singing Competition, organised by Singapore China Baijiu Pte Ltd, concluded successfully on 4 July at Long Heng Performing Arts Hall. After more than two months of intense competition, 11 contestants from various parts of China and Malaysia shone brilliantly on stage, attracting a large audience to witness the performances.
The competition specially invited Mr. Charles Oon, Chairman of Singapore China Baijiu Pte Ltd; Ms. Jasmine from VG Link Accounting Pte Ltd; and Mr. Steven Lin, a senior music stage director in Singapore, to serve as judges for the event.
A total of more than 40 contestants participated in the competition. After over two months of multiple selection rounds, 11 contestants stood out and successfully advanced to the finals. On the day of the competition, contestants performed in the order determined by a prior draw. Each performer showcased a unique style and captivating charm, delivering an enthusiastic and visually stunning audio-visual feast for the audience.
Both judges and audience members commented that this competition reached top-tier standards in terms of contestant quality, stage production, lighting, and sound. The excellent audio-visual setup provided strong support for the contestants’ delicate interpretations and performances, and the singers themselves expressed how exhilarating it was to perform! After all performances concluded, the judges selected the top three contestants based on scores. Ultimately, Cheng Xiaogang, Song Lin, and Yufei won the Champion, First Runner-Up, and Second Runner-Up titles respectively. They received cash prizes of S$1,288, S$888, and S$488, along with two bottles of Kweichow Moutai each, sponsored by the organiser.

In addition, this competition introduced a creative element by fully utilising Singapore China Baijiu Pte Ltd’s official WeChat platform “Xin Zhong You Xia”, adopting an online interaction format. On 3 July, contestant profiles were released on WeChat, garnering over 5,000 votes in a single day. Contestant Cheng Xiaogang ultimately won the “Best Popularity Award” with 895 votes.
